Shin Chae Gyeong is reckless and kinda stupid girl. Being under standard in her education and is always doomed to get the most answers wrong in almost of her exams. She admires Lee Shin because he is a seja (prince) but they have bad impression in the first time they face to face. Chae Gyeong becomes hating him as he has been being a rude prince for not apologize to her though he had hurt her wrist.

One day, Chae Gyeong overheard the seja proposed to a pretty and smart girl who takes the ballet class, Hyo Rin. Shin threats Chae Gyeong to shut up her mouth from spreading the uncertain issues for the sake of Hyo Rin
Lee Shin is the crown seja who attends the public school instead of the royal institution. It turns out the reason behind his attending in the public school is managed by the current king, Shin's father, so he can know each other naturally with a girl who is a granddaughter of the previous king's friend's. Shin's late grandfather had the only close friend who saw him not as a king but a human being. That's why he made a promise with his friend in return. That was he made a couple of engagement rings for his friend's granddaughter and his grandson who will take the inheritance of throne.
The previous king's friend is Chae Gyeong's grandfather who's still alive and living with her family. And someone will take the inheritance of throne is Lee Shin. If it's not because the current king's older brother passed away, Lee Yul, Shin's cousin, will be the crown seja. Since his father's death, Yul and his mother went to England and now, he's back in South Korea and has decided to settle with his late father's family. He then attends the same school with Shin and coincidentally enters the same class with Chae Gyeong.
Chae Gyeong refuses the marriage. She is still young and she knows Shin dislikes her. Moreover Shin had proposed to a girl he likes. But unexpectedly, her grandfather gets a phone call from the palace confirming the seja accepts the proposal. And in their school, Chae Gyeong asks why Shin does not refuse the marriage. He has to marry with a girl he loves. But Shin gives her a bitter answer. He will not allow the girl he loves being forced to live like a doll in the palace. While in the previous day, Shin explained the reason why he accepted the marriage to Yul, that he thought it would be funny to have a weird girl as the sejabin (prince's wife), which of course would distress the old geeks.
The rumor about the seja will get marry with a girl attending the same school with them, has spread so fast among the students. It worries Hyo Rin as she is afraid the girl who overheard her conversation with Shin who spread the rumor. But it kinda breaks her heart when he listens to Shin's answer to calm her down, that the girl being issued to marry with the seja is not her.
Chae Gyeong cries asking her mother why does she have to marry in her young age, with a guy she barely speak to? Is it because their mount-size of debt? Do her parents sacrifice her for money? Her mother's heart broken and answers she will let her daughter lives unhappy instead of making her father-in-law to feel guilty in his rest of life because of breaking his old friend's promise.
Chae Gyeong understands her mother's feeling. It's not true if she sacrifices her own daughter for money. Back when her mother was a child, no one wanted her. Then her grandfather adopted her mother and allowed her to marry her son. That's why in the night before meeting the queen in personal, she has made her mind up. Though her mother advises her to speak up every single thing she has in her mind, before the queen, Chae Gyeong confirms she accepts the marriage and asks helping to solve her family's crisis.
And her life as the sejabin-to-be has been beginning. Chae Gyeong will go to stay in the palace's guest's place to have one month training before the marriage. Shin visits her and throws some sweets by telling Yul says girls like that. Shin adds, he has an agreement if he does marry. It was to move their place to Changduk palace. That way, there will be a distance between the old geeks. So, Chae Gyeong has chance to sneak out the palace or invite her family and friends.
