This novel tells the story of Sandy aka Han Soon-hae, Indonesian-Korean descent girl. She studied in Seoul and worked in a famous designer's boutique there. On one night in Summer, she did a grocery at a supermarket. There he met a handsome man named Park Hyun-shik and the man had accidentally taken the phone belonged to her due to the similarity of its shape, colour and ringtone. Sandy frantically trying to get her cell phone back. Sandy then went to the man's residence, and the house was owned by a Korean famous young singer named Jung Tae-woo, while the man who took her cell phone was Tae-woo's manager. Without knowing it, the experience at that night would reveal the secret four years ago and changed her love story.
Jung Tae-woo, a Korean famous young singer had reemerged into the entertainment industry after 4 years of vacuum, in case of an accident four years ago. In the midst of his return to the world of entertainment, there were rumours spreading that he was a gay. He was concerned that gossip will affect the sales of his new album. That's why his manager suggested him to take pictures with a girl, to break down the issues. When Sandy appeared in front of them, Park Hyun-shik was sure that Sandy was suitable to be a "lover" of Jung Tae-woo for some time. Jung Tae-woo was not aware, that the presence of Sandy would open the old case he had tried to forget.
Meanwhile, Sandy who unhesitatingly accepted Hyun-shik's offer to be a "lover" of Jung Tae-woo to get the "gay" gossip disappeared. Surely no need for me to ask if you know Ikeuchi Aya from 1 Litre of tears. First time for me to know this drama was when I was a senior high. There was a private TV channel in my country aired a drama talked about a girl’s fight with her Ataxia disease. So sad for me to watch it. It was success to make me and my friends full of tears. But people said that it was a remake. Or actually plagiarism. Then another private TV channel aired the original one. A Japan drama, entitled 1 Litre of Tears. I still remember that I was not as sad as watching the ‘remake’ version but when I was a college student, I bought the DVD to watch it again and I could see the tragic life from Aya. Aya should figth with her Spinnocerebellar Degeneration or well known for Ataxia disease.Ataxia is a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind, it causes the victim feels like a prisoner. (The disease damage the brain ability to control the victim’s brain ability to control her body movement without disturbing her intelligence. Her intelligence made her thought why she could not walk properly, speak, write or eat freely like before and then accepted her fact condition).
The drama was set in 2005 till I know that it was a drama based on true story from Aya’s diary who lived in 60’s-70’s and died in 80’s. The diary itself had sold for 1,1 millions copies in Japan only (not fix statistic) and inspired so many people. But when I read the diary virtually, I found so many differences between the drama and Aya’s real life. Of course we cannot conclude that the script writer change the story line as if she/he just liked to. Because I am really sure she/he could not change Aya’s struggle story without her family’s permission.
I want to make a comparison between ‘Aya’ on drama and ‘Aya’ on her real life based on my point of view as an amateur. Not to say that the drama was a fictive but I found that the changing on drama from the real life caused a different point of view for myself to see Aya. If I compare Aya in her life and the drama, I saw that Aya’s life on drama was very sad but she faced it in a lucky way. Some people said that if we want to see how Aya’s close-to-her-real-life, just watch 1 Litre of Tears movie version. Although there were still some differences to her real life, the movie version was closer to Aya’s real life (based on some people who ever watched the movie and I never).
In movie version, Aya was rolled by Asae Onoishi who acted as Asumi, Aya’s senior and roommate in their disability school. No matter if it was drama or movie version, the purpose is one. To show people what Aya did to struggle from her disease and ask people not to give up easily.
Here are some differences which I could find between Aya in her real life and Aya on drama:
Illness Creeping
In her real life, Aya knew her disease when she was fourteen, sooner-being a senior high girl. So her junior high teacher and mother had a meeting to discuss which school Aya would continue with her condition. In drama, Aya found her disease after being accepted in Higashikou, a favourite school, with her best friend, grated by Kawamoto senpai and also met Haruto. (in her life, Aya also studied at the school)
See? The Aya in drama was more lucky. At least she could cheer happily with Mari, her best friend in front of the publication board where their name written as the exam candidates who passed the Higashikou entrance exam. She blushed when Kawamoto, a boy who she had been his secret admire since eleven was grating her for her acceptance in the school. And also met Haruto, Aya’s guardian.
The real Aya? She and her mom just cried when they knew Aya was accepted in Higashikou.
Cannot play basketball
The drama script writer made Aya as a girl who played basketball actively. Even she joined the basketball club since she was in junior high school. Maybe the writer wanted to make it more dramatics by using basketball as the symbol for Aya who can walk properly and even run freely but then being handicapped in a wheelchair because of her illness. But, in her real life, Aya was bad in athletic. Aya herself noticed why she didn’t put her arms forward to break her fall so she would not fall straight to the face. She thought it might be caused by her poor ability in athletic. In drama, when Aya fell straight to the face while would go to school, didn’t realize why she didn’t put her arms forward to break her fall but mother did.
Once again the Aya in drama had something the Aya in real life did not have T.T
Aya lost her three front teeth.
When Aya crossed the street to another bus stop, it was sprinkling. An elementary school boy shared his umbrella with her and she tried to walk fast trying to keep up with his pace. All of sudden, she fell flat forward, blood flowed from her mouth and stained the wet asphalt in red. And the result? Her lip was swollen and her three front teeth were broken and gone.
Maybe we could see the same scene when Aya had a date with Kawamoto senpai in a night for the firework exhibition, using Yukata. All of sudden, Aya fell when they were holding hands crossed the road. The same thing between Aya and the elementary boy and Aya and Kawamoto was they were waiting the light turned green.
Aya’s all of sudden fallen while having a date did not steal her beauty but how about the all of sudden fallen in her real life?
There were no Kawamoto senpai and Haruto
I think many readers of Aya’s diary hope to see how Aya wrote about Haruto in it. But there was no Haruto actually. The same case to Kawamoto, Aya’s senior in Basketball Club from junior high. If real Aya had a poor ability in athletic, how could she attend a basketball team. If she never be a basketball team, how could she being a basketball club member. If she never be a basketball club member, how could she had a senpai in basketball club named Kawamoto. Even one of the six fears why Aya felt so hard to be transferred to the disability school was boy thingy.
The Aya on the drama ever had a broken heart when Kawamoto senpai letf her when he knew Aya’s condition ( had a rehabilitation in the same room with the old people and doing weird exercises) but then she had Haruto. Who never leave her until she told him not to see each other anymore because she understood that they had different life. Aya stuck with her handicapped and Haruto should continue his life to get being a great doctor in the future.
The Aya in real life? She just had a wish to have a love story with someone she would love.
Firm Mom
The Aya’s mom in drama could show us successfully how Shioka loved her daughter more than herself. How she will do everything to help, protect and made Aya sure that she would never be left. Aya even wrote in her diary if when she had to crawl to reach the bathroom which only 3 meters from her because she could not even stand although if she held something anymore, her mom also crawl behind her (to show she was not alone) and they both cried. Shioka even said that she would take Aya with her if she died then.
But we never see Shioka in drama told Aya that it was only a baby who showed what she thinks by crying and Aya had made a senior high looked bad. We also never show Shioka in drama said that Aya should use her brain to develop everything she had learned so she would not fall so often. Do you remember when Aya asked her mom, dad and doctor if she could get married or not? Shioka just showed her shock with Aya’s question and give silence as the answer.
In their real life, when Aya asked if she could get married to her doctor, Shioka automatically answered ‘No, Little Aya. You can’t’. When Aya asked why she can’t, mom just answered as cheerfully as possible that Aya need someone to get married to. First of all, she had to find someone who fully understand her condition and would agree to marry her.
Shioka realized she had given her daughter a cruel answer. But she did not want to give her a vague reply that would encourage her to cherish an illusion that would soon be dashes.
But then she moved to tears when Aya shook her head and said ‘No’ T.T
Cool Dad
Aya’s dad in drama was an owner of a Tofu Shop and also a funny daddy that showed his strong for facing the whole family problems in front of his children and covered it by his humors successfully. But in the real life, Aya’s dad was a cool man, I mean not as funny as dad on drama. I think Aya did not give many informations about her dad in her diary. She just said that her dad was an impetuous but sweet. Aya wrote she was touched by her dad’s attention when he told that it was better for Aya not to go out of home in a sunny day not in the night.
I think there is no reason to use her cool daddy as one of her unluckiness compared to Aya’s funny dad in drama.

I think those are the big points that make Aya in drama is really different with Aya in real life. But whatever it is, I can learn that everything I can get in my life is a bless by Allah. Even the little things like typing on my phone keypad is also a bless for someone who even cannot move her finger freely T.T
And these are the othere little differences between drama and real life for Aya. Not the big deals but they were parts of Aya’s life also.
Aya’s daily activities
In her real life, Aya has the daily tasks like watering the garden, weeding and also check if there are insects on the becks of the leaves of the tomato she planted. But, in drama version, Aya shown as a girl that only go to school, play basket and help mom and dad in tofu shop. Even there was no front yard in Aya’s home.
Mary VS Ganmo
The drama version shows Aya has a dog named by the family as Ganmo. Ganmo was a lost dog found by her (or may be Haruto found him first). Nor Aya either Haruto could keep Ganmo in their house but the probability is bigger for Ganmo to live with Aya (even till Aya’s death, Ganmo still lived with the family). Mom and Dad allowed her to have a pet because they had known about Aya’s illness and want to make her happy by allowing her to do what she likes to. While in her life, Aya has a dog named Mary. Mary was died because the neighbour’s fierce dog bit her.
Aya has two brothers
In drama Aya just has Hiroki as her only brother but actually there is Kentaro, Aya’s youngest brother. And at that time, Rika was only two months. Not a kindergarten student like in drama.

Read this book to kill my boredom while waiting Noni went home from teaching. I read the book in Indonesian version. It turned out this book took my one day to focus only to it. I knew for a bookworm, spent a day to finish a 297 pages book is nothing. But for me it is something. John was successfully bring my imagination to condition myself being in the Grogan family. It's completely a sequential chronology. From the cute yet brave puppy, truly active 'teenage' to a sad sickly old dog.
I smiled and laughed when reading the cute, naughty and funny moment by that dog which were written so cleverly by John. And I cried. Yes, seriously I cried when reading the old Marley was 'put to sleep' since he was too old to go under the medical procedure. And smiled again to read how that family could finally accept their dog's gone. A dog which could destroy their new home needing 30 years to finish its installment payment.
They kept taking care of their dog though they almost could buy a mini yacht with the money spent to repair the damage caused by Marley. But for them, there was no yacht was willing to wait and welcome them home everyday throughout 13 years. A professional dog trainer who believed in there was no dog could not be trained, there was only unlucky owner who didn't know how to act, gave up on Marley. Even there's a vet advised John to 'put to sleep' Marley, the softer words to say lethal injection, because of that dog's really bad behaviors.
Something new I found from this book is, a 13 years old dog is equal to a 91 years old human. Marley's friendliness also had thaught me that dogs owned by some of my friends and relatives which always eagerly barked at me, everytime I visited their homes, maybe just trying to be friendly with me. But I'm sure, most of them are not that friendly. Lol.

What I really want to convey is how this animal had touched our souls and taught us some important lessons in our lives. A person can learn a lot from the naughty dog like ours. Marley taught me about how to live my days with passion and joy, about grasping the opportunities that came and following my heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things in life; a walk in the forest, snowfall, a nap in the sun of winter. And while he was getting old and sick, he taught me about optimism in the face of challenges. Above all, he taught me about friendship and eliminate the ego, and above all, loyalty indefinitely. All of this is an amazing concept that I, only now after his death, could absorb fully: Marley is the mentor. As a teacher and role model. Is it possible a dog - any dog, but especially dog is very wild and can not be controlled such as ours, shows people things that are really important in life? I believe the answer is YES. Loyalty. Courage. Devotion. Simplicity. Excitement. And things are not important as well . Dog does not need a big house or a nice car or designer clothes. Status symbol does not mean anything to him. A piece of wood is enough for him. A dog does not judge people based on color, belief or class but by what is in their hearts. A dog does not care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or stupid. Give your heart and he will give his heart to you. Simple as that. When she was a girl, Rana, her nickname, was like being flogged to study harder and harder for knowing that her father got irrespective treat from his boss, just because he was in the lowest position due to the low education. Her mom was crying while told Rana to study harder in order to raise her family dignity. And Rana kept her promise to her parents.
Her ambitions in the world of education made her too drawn in books and libraries. From one study to another. From one article to another article. The result was clear, she could finish her post-graduate on time. Her writings frequently appeared in the newspaper. Many her articles published in prestigious scientific journals at domestic and foreign. She often being trusted by the college in national and international symposiums. She was also awarded as role model lecturer for the region Central Java Kopertais. And her best achievement was she was called to receive an international award at Tsinghua University in China.
Immersed in her achievements made Rana forgot her nature which was born as a woman; married and having children. Insistence from her parents had repeatedly come to her. Ranging from the subtle to the blatantly told her that they did not need any more awards. What they need was to have grandchildren from Rana, their only daughter. They even started ignoring Rana with indifference upon her accapt of international awards in China.
The high achievement Rana got could not hide the fact that she was getting older, but not married yet. It was quite a lot of men who proposed her. But not one that she received. She expressed a variety of reasons. Ranging from wanting to focus on her post-graduate, a man who did not fit her criteria, until the man she considered his job would not guarantee a bright future.
Rana finally realized it was the time for her to build a new home. But it was very difficult for her to immediately fulfill it. Rana could not bear the sorrow and had rushed to the hospital. It seemed she wanted just to die.
Rana trying to survive. However she lamented the sorrow, it would not turn the time back. But the the light of happiness began to appear. A woman who was the mother of her student came to propose her. Rina worried and tried to explain that she and the woman's son was limited to lecturer and student. The student's mother convinced Rina that she really meant it. Rina agreed to the term they should be married that night because of the trauma she had. And in the same night, the marriage ceremony was held. Rina eventually married a man who was once her student, 4 years younger than her. The man who would be a kind Imam for their marriage life.
Personal comment:
It's really an establish soul story. Zahrana shows one example of carrying high educational achievement grasp any woman, it would be no perfect if she was not married and had children. Not because women are inferior to men and men can go around in women. But it is the nature, women are led and men lead. Do not forget that there is a great woman behind the man's successful . If there is a woman who considers having children is a choice that she could refuse on the grounds of human rights; she has the right to determine what she wants and does not want to do, whether she can have that such thoughts if before her mother conceived her, decided to better did not have children.
Tom is the son of a deceased sister of Aunt Polly. A boy who is very naughty, most know how to trick aunt Polly and never do the same trick twice. Even so, Aunt Polly really loves her nephew which made her could not hit the kid. His ignorance does not only apply to Aunt Polly and his step brother, Sidney, but also his friends. One Saturday morning, Tom was sentenced whitewash paint the fence by Aunt Polly for coming home late yesterday afternoon due to a fight with a boy. Does not stop at Ben but continue on another boys who gave up their ‘treasures’ for a chance to whitewash paint which should only be performed by 'selected boys'. lol
The ‘treasures’ were eventually used by Tom to be exchanged for tickets at the Sunday School, prize a new Gospel. Whereas 1 ticket can be obtained simply by memorizing a few verses and the new Gospel must be exchanged for several tickets which cost the same as 2000 verses. Everybody included his teachers surprised Tom could get it, but no doubt he has the tickets are legitimate, which makes the children hate themselves.
Tom, the trouble maker! When all the church members solemnly listening to the sermon, he just released his other 'treasure'. A beetle called pinching beetle. The beetle pinches Tom’s hand makes him threw his hands so that the beetle was thrown to the floor. Does not matter if it stops there. A boring dog just approaching the beetle and it pinches the dog so the dog run here and there to break free. Solemn sermon becomes chaotic because all church congregations are not resistant to laugh.
Even so, Tom is still a boy who could love a girl. Becky Tathcher is her name. Daughter of a wealthy and respected man. Tom makes his teacher upset so that he was being punished by sitting next to a girl who is considered shameful by his friends. And the girl is Becky. Tom brooding on the banks of river and chestnut-wishful probably be better if he die because the world looks like place which fill with distress - and make Becky regret it. But he decided to think about his future. What he will be in the future. Which is clearly not a circus clown though Becky said she likes the circus clown, and then he thought to be a soldier and go home with a star honors. Or join the Indians hunting bison and return as head of the tribe. He thought there must be something cooler than it all. Pirates! Tom decided his career as a pirate.
At one midnight, Tom went to the grave with a boy of the most hated by women because of his naughty, Huckleberry Finn. They will perform a ritual disposal of warts found on the skin of Huck using cat carcass and remains a bad guy who had just died. But they saw it beyond a doubt. They saw a murder of a young doctor who conducted by Injun Joe, an Indian, accompanied by Muff Potter, a drunkard, in front of the grave which they will use as a complementary of body cleansing ritual from warts. Joe, the killer, put the knife he used to stab the young doctor into the hand of the drunk Muff, as if he was the culprit. Tom and Huck who see everything running scared and vowed never reveal what they see to others, by agreement stamped with the initials of their names are written in blood. But the next morning almost all the citizens of St. Petersburg know and believe the killing was Muff. It is actually disturb Tom's inner very much.
There is a bigger problem for Tom than keeping secret of a murder. Becky had a few days absent from school due to illness. It makes Tom became silent, which makes Aunt Polly worry. After a few days of waiting, the girl appeared well and Tom show all the actions he could do to attract the attention of Becky. But instead he received hints from the girl, who said that Tom likes to show off. Tom’s cheeks were burned and he was gone.
Tom is getting depressed, feeling no one wants him. Finally he decided to go and say goodbye to his best friend, Joe Harper. Joe actually had the same idea and they invite Huck to join. A team of pirates formed with Tom, the Black Avenger of the Spanish Mainland as its commander and Joe Harper, the Ghost Ocean and Huckleberry Finn, the Red Hand as its crews. Using a raft, they sailed three miles below St. Petersburg, Mississippi, at the point where the river widens to about 1 mile. They camped in the wilderness, play, swim and eat fish they catch by themselves. Feeling homesick often come to them but no one dares to admit. They saw a ferry and happy because they think people are looking for them - it means they regret having hurt that three boys. But the ferry disappeared and not long, their joy was gone.
While his two friends were sleeping, Tom quietly crawled out of the tent and sneak into the ferry. Swimming and crepting to escape detection. Tom came in front of Aunt Polly's fence. Mrs. Harper looked there. They cried for Tom and Joe who they consider to have been dead by drowning. Joe’s mother even very sorry that she had hit her son. Tom was hiding under the bed crying to hear Aunt Polly prayed earnestly for him.
Tom back to his pirates team and they are having fun again. But Joe does not take it anymore and wants to go home because he was deeply misses his mother. Huck is following behind Joe. Tom trying to convince his friends to stay but failed. Tom finally confided that he saw his aunt and Joe’s mother cry over them. The three boys thought it was cool and they decided to stay on and resume their game. But at night when they are sleeping, a storm came and the lightning struck their tent. lol
Saturday morning was very quiet in St. Petersburg. The church congregations meet for funeral prayers for the children who died by drowning. People begin to remember them as good boys. Even who saw them alive for the last time regarded as an honor. Pastor and the congregations sobbed until they were surprised at what they saw. The three children who died by drowning, walked from behind the pulpit. Everyone was so happy to see them, had unwittingly become a victim of fraud. hahahaha
Aunt Polly was very concerned about Tom in the next morning. Aunt asked why Tom able to travel for miles to come to his funeral but why not get it to tell that he was still alive. Tom is sorry but instead make another lie. Tom said he dreamt about Aunt. And told her all he saw when he crept at Joe’s mother and Aunt Polly weep for them, as part of his dream. Sid was suspicious, it's all a dream and without error? lollll
Tom and Joe like hero at school. All the boys look envious of them. Becky tried to patch things up with Tom but instead he deliberately make Becky jealous by talking only with Amy Lawrence, her ex-girlfriend. Becky cried sadly but still want revenge. She was tandem with the other boy who also successfully make Tom jealous.
Tom’s and Becky’s relationship is getting worse. They are taunting each other. But Tom still can not bear if the girl gets caning. Becky accidentally tore a teacher’s book but Tom protect her by saying he was the one who tore the book. Tom does not regret the caning because finally praised by Becky that he was a kind hearted man.
Tom had measles tortured him for three weeks. But keeping secret about the murder of a young doctor is no less tortured. Tom met Huck and convince him to keep shut up. But they also can not deny that they need to help Muff Potter. Muff is not a good man, but he never hurt anyone. Remembrance of the virtues that have been done by Muff for them, Muff plus gratitude because they did not leave him alone, making Tom and Huck increasingly feel guilty. At the time of the trial, Muff Potter found guilty as the murder of a young doctor. But Tom Sawyer presented as a defense witness and testified Muff, take Injun Joe was the perpetrator of the murder. Injun fled from the courtroom. Tom once again being a hero. But at night he felt frightened because Injun had not been arrested.
There is a feeling in the body of a healthy boy to find buried treasure. Tom took Huck to look for treasure and Huck agreed. He agrees on everything to seek pleasure that does not require capital. Because he has abundant time but does not have money. And they both start looking for treasure. Digging under the tree but did not find anything. They eventually down the hill looking for the next treasure excavation site. A 'haunted house'.
Tom and Huck fearfully entered the 'haunted house'. But they start to feel proud of having mastered their fears. Especially when they get to the second floor when the ladder is damaged. But there are two men came in and they hurriedly hide. Even more surprising is that one of the men is Injun Joe. Injun and his friend intend to leave their treasures there and to be picked up again later. Tom for a moment feel lucky to have been there because he hopes to take the treasure. But Injun’s friend saw a shovel and hoe with fresh soil attached. Injun is sure there are other people than them who were in the house and decided to check into the second floor. Tom and Huck certainly noticed if not for the broken ladder makes Injun fall.
Tom and Huck eavesdropping on Injun about the 'number two'. It’s considered as the treasure location by Tom. Tom and Huck plan to solve what is meant by Injun of 'number' two'. Which is obviously not the house number because the houses in the city does not have numbers. Then they thought maybe it was a number that is used for room at inn. Tom traces it and finds there is a number two room at an inn that was not so nice, always left by the renter at night. At midnight, Tom settles into the number two room with Huck guards in the alley entrance to the inn. But Tom then ran in a rush followed by Huck terrified from behind. The room was not locked and it’s indeed Injun’s. Injun even lying on the floor of the possibility of being drunk. But Tom was too scared to go any further action so he ran away. They decided to find out the next day.
Becky and Tom go picnic with their friends to a forest. There’s no Tom, Huck decides to find out about the second room alone. Huck saw Injun and his friend walking while carrying a chest and he started to follow them. It turned out they actually went to the house of Mistress Widow Douglas and seeking revenge on her late husband by killing his wife. Huck was terrified but Mistress Douglas was very kind hearted. Huck met Mr. Welshman for help. Mr. Welshman and his two sons went to the lady’s house with fully armed. Huck was heard gunshots and ran as fast as possible. Huck went to the house of Welshman the next morning and eventually knew that the sound of gunfire last night due to Mr. Welshman who could not suppress a sneeze. More severe, Injun and his friend able to escape.
Furor over the attempted murder of Mistress Douglas lost with the news of Tom and Becky loss. Finding themselves left in the cave at a picnic in the forest and miss the ferry. Three days and three nights the residents seek for them but did not succeed.
Tom and Becky apparently too busy playing in cave which was safe at the first. But Tom’s adventurous spirit made him want to find something new and Becky agreed. Unfortunately, while they explored the cave, they were attacked by bats that were interested in their candlelight. Everywhere they run to save themselves and eventually lost. They were desperate especially when hear the voice of people who seek them yet they were too far so the people could not hear their voice of answers. Not to mention the cave was too dark which was very dangerous if walking carelessly. Tom still trying to figure it out and was very pleased at the sight of someone's hand. But he was very surprised because it was Injun’s hand. And somehow Injun even ran without looking Tom first.
Tom and Becky finally found. Because of Tom’s bravery to courage down every alley in the cave with his kite string and asked Becky to just wait. Tom and Becky then taken home and master Thatcher said that there will be no more people who'll get lost in the cave because he had ordered people to close the door with a large iron door and give latch three times, and he who holds the key. Tom blanched to hear. When asked why, he told that there Injun Joe in the cave.
People including Tom down the river toward the cave. So up to, what they saw was very sad. Injun already died. His broken knife show his attempt to open the iron door but failed. Tom was very sad because he knew it was hopeless in the cave and hoping to find a way out, but there was also a sense of relief because Injun gone. Injun finally buried near the cave and many people visit his Tomb.
After everything calmed down, Tom took Huck to the cave of treasure hunting because he knew the treasure was not in room number two. Huck agreed and Tom told him a way that he was the only who knew it. Besides he and Huck, just Joe Harper and Ben Rogers who should know because it would be cool if there was a gang. Huck and Tom explored the cave but Huck was afraid of Injun ghost was there to keep his treasure. Tom calm Huck down and they started digging at one point considered by Tom as Injun’s treasure location. They found a chest and took home the treasure bag which was quite heavy. They passed Mistress Douglas’s house and the lady was calling them to come into her house. There had gathered the rich and respectable people, including Aunt Polly, Sid and Mary. They were asked to take a bath and wear new clothes that had been provided.
It turns out Mistress Douglas announced that she would take care of Huck and send him to school. But Tom said Huck do not need it because he has a lot of money. People laugh at Tom to appreciate his joking. But Tom proves his words by bringing in sacks of treasure they had found and spilling of more than twelve thousand dollars in front of everyone. Everyone is shocked but still want to hear an explanation from Tom.
Tom once again becomes a byword. People began to dig 'haunted houses'. Huck is under the protection of Mistress Douglas now. It meant he had to get into the upper class lives which is very tortured. He hated everything in Mistress Douglas’ house; very organized, very polite and very clean. He banned smoking and talking rudely. He tries to survive for three weeks but still failed. Huck eventually escaped and Mrs. Douglas very sad to know Huck lost. But Tom knew where to find Huck. Tom check the huge barrels and find Huck was asleep in one of the barrel. Huck said no problem if Tom take the treasure of Huck’s part because he did not want to be rich. But Tom seduced Huck to try one more time because only esteemed people who can join the pirates group of Tom Sawyer. Huck agreed to try to learn to be rich in a month later.

Finally I can finish the book. Need 2 days to read it and it's fast for my level. haha..
Bought the book last year near mu faculty but start reading it last two days.. haha
Just finished reading The White Masai by Corinne Hofmann. I know I’m kinda out-of-date for reading this book this week. I bought the book as second-handed through Ira from her room renter with really low price and I’m surprised with Corrine’s struggle for love. I could get the emotion just by reading the book. Actually I was really lazy just to touch the book before (angat-angat taik ayam ceritanya) but last week I went to my sist’s school to get wi-fi to download games and I need something to kill my boredom while waiting the huge size download done. So I took this book and I couldn’t stand to finish it as soon as possible since I’m so curious with its end. To be honest I need 1 week more or less to finish it. haha
The White Masai is about Corrine’s, a Germany woman with broken English, true story of love at first sight to Lketinga, a Masai tribesman. When she had a holiday to Kenya with her boyfriend, Marco, they faced a misunderstanding situation while getting back to their hotel. At that moment Lketinga came to give some helps. Corinne couldn’t get him out of her head and crazily broke off her relationship with Marco. Marco who tried to calm her down yet couldn’t break her decision, decided to receive it. Then Corinne backed to Switzerland and sold her wedding dress shop and apartment and flied to Kenya to find her prince. But what she found was not as easy as she thought. So many people want them to be separated even Lketinga was jailed. But Corinne’s love success killed the tired to find her prince and finally they meet again. Cultural difference shown by Lketinga how the Masai tribesman treat the woman, as well in social life and of course on bed, made Corinne’s upset and forced her to think what actually she wished to find after through every obstacles just to find her Lketinga.

Corinne’s love once again could make her survived and they finally got married after they lived for several months in Lketinga’s mom’s hut; shorter than the householder made of dried cow dung called manyatta, with Mama Masulani (his mom) and Saguna (his niece). The marriage itself was not easy as it looked. They should finish every bureaucracy thingy as Corinne was a stranger in the country. Before getting married, Corinne need to back to Switzerland to heal her body from the illness of malaria due to lack of environmental hygiene and food. And back after a month in there to get married with Lketinga, in a traditional Samburu wedding.
Corinne was an independent woman who couldn’t just sit down the whole day so she decided to open a store which sold food and she had a land rover as except the type of the car won’t be useful in the area, to take people and buy stuffs stocks for her store. Their store was success with so many buyers come everyday. Lketinga who really wanted to have a child, often got misunderstood by Corinne’s multiple illness though finally she got pregnant and took a birth for their first baby girl, Napirai. But Corinne then discovered she had hepatitis and should be isolated in a room for six weeks with Napirai. But they could be home after four weeks.
Everything was mess up by Lketinga’s baseless jealousy. Napirai’s presence instead made him more out of control and said Corinne had an affair with other guy several times. Corinne tried her best to save her marriage as she phoned her mom in Switzerland to ask some advices. Her mom of course so surprised to know what her daughter faces in her marriage life and sent Corinne’s older brother to talk to Lketinga. Lketinga shows his best attitude and politeness in front of him and promised he would change his bad habit to Corinne. But it’s not stay longer as Corinne’s brother back to Switzerland, Lketinga backed to his bad habit. Accusing her with no proof yet did not want to listen to any explanation by her. Even Mama looked like believing in Lketinga saying that his wife has an affair with other guy and Mama asks her if Napirai is really Lketinga’s daughter or not. Corinne answered yes, in tears.
Corinne couldn’t stand anymore but she wanted to give Lketinga other chance to save their marriage. With hard effort to make Lketinga sure that they would have a better life by moving to Mombassa, a place where they ever met. There, they would open a souvenir shop as the place was visited by so many tourists. Lketinga refused at the first but finally he accepted Corinne’s suggestion and they move to Mombassa. The souvenir shop run successfully but unfortunately Lketinga getting worst (always repeat that Napirai is not his baby) and it makes Corinne gave up. She ordered two tickets to Switzerland as she wanted to take her baby go to her mom’s country. By telling a lie to Lketinga that she just wanted to have a holiday in Switzerland because she need his husband’s signature if she wanted to take her baby abroad. Corinne said that she must be back because she left everything there, bank account and a shop with full stock.
Lketinga didn’t believe her though finally he gave it to her. With his last saying that he didn’t know when he could see Corinne and Napirai again. In tears, Corinne just sat in the mini bus left her husband and everything she had loved more than her own country. She had tried her best to save their marriage but nothing better comes. Arrive to Switzerland, Corinne sent some letters to Lketinga and other friends of hers in Kenya. As for Lketinga, she wrote she was so sorry because she would not back to Africa and told Lketinga was allowed to sell the shop which could make him to be a rich man.
